These are database problems, and WordPress handles them with plugins like Advanced Custom Fields plus a page builder, each of which is another update to track.
AI that can operate the site, not just write copy. The 2026 shift is from AI that generates text to AI agents that create pages, populate collections, run SEO and accessibility audits, and connect to outside tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Platform-by-Platform Breakdown
Webflow: The Strongest Database and AI Story
Webflow has spent the last twelve months turning its CMS into something closer to a relational database. Enterprise plans can now host more than 1,000,000 CMS items with up to 100 fields per collection, and individual collections can hold up to 1 million entries, with nesting up to three levels deep and new And/Or conditional visibility logic. The next-gen CMS reached general availability for all customers on April 9, 2026.
The headless layer matters for businesses that want their content to feed apps or AI tools. Webflow’s Content Delivery API, once Enterprise-only, reached general availability in January 2026, so solo creators can now feed CMS content to apps, external sites or AI tools.
On AI, Webflow shipped a first-party Claude connector. The integration uses Webflow’s MCP Server, and according to company officials Claude can manage bulk CMS updates or run SEO, content and usability audits from a prompt; it requires a paid Claude plan. Webflow AI also includes an in-Designer AI Assistant, an AI Site Builder that scaffolds sites from text prompts, and AI SEO tools that auto-generate alt text, metadata and schema markup, included with every plan.
One caution: Webflow’s prompt-to-app ambitions have been scaled back. On April 27, 2026, Webflow confirmed that App Gen, the full-stack app feature it launched in public beta in November 2025, has been paused and will be deprecated, with users steered toward AI code components instead. Drop in a CSV file and the agent reads the columns, creates the collection schema, maps every field and populates all items; ask for a detail page and it creates the route and wires the layout. Users can choose between Sonnet, Opus and GPT models depending on the task, and move agent edits to a branch to iterate safely.
Framer’s CMS is shallower than Webflow’s for very large datasets, and its ecommerce is thin. It is the best fit for a design-forward marketing site, a startup or a professional services firm that wants a polished presence maintained mostly by AI.
Wix Studio and Wix Harmony: Two Products, One Warning
Wix now offers three builders, and Florida businesses need to pick the right one. Wix Harmony, launched January 21, 2026, lets you describe a site in plain language and then refine by drag and drop, and is included in every Wix plan. But as of this week, Harmony still lacks a native CMS, so a growing blog, a directory or a team page pulling from a collection is not ready to live there yet; a third-party app called CMS for Harmony fills the gap. Wix’s own roadmap lists CMS in Harmony with an ETA of Q2 2026, which has now passed.
Wix Studio is the professional product. It enables fully responsive design, CMS-driven content, structured data implementation and technical SEO control, making it the preferred option for businesses aiming for top rankings in Google and AI search engines. Harmony cannot generate complex custom functionality, third-party API integrations beyond Wix’s ecosystem, or database-driven content outside Wix CMS; those require Wix’s Velo development platform.
Wix also owns Base44 (see below), which is where its database-driven application story lives.
Duda: Built for Agencies, Fastest Pages in the Group
If your Florida business outsources its website to a marketing agency, there is a good chance it is being built on Duda. More than 23,000 digital marketing agencies, hosts, media publications and SaaS platforms use Duda to build and manage client sites, with programmatic project management via Zapier, MCP and REST APIs.
The July release pushed Duda into application territory. On July 15, 2026, Duda announced agentic AI site generation, a Custom Widget generator inside the editor, and Duda Vibe, a conversational editor for launching web applications and business tools, alongside existing AI features for alt text, SEO titles, page generation and MCP orchestration. The enhanced site generator can ingest raw client briefs and call transcripts.
Duda’s Core Web Vitals lead is a practical advantage for local search. The trade-off: full white-label capability requires a jump to the $199 per month tier, which is why Duda is usually an agency purchase rather than a direct one.
Squarespace: Easiest Start, Weakest Database
Squarespace remains a traditional drag-and-drop builder that has added AI tools it calls Design Intelligence, including Blueprint AI for onboarding, AI content generation, Layout Switcher and AI SEO optimization, with plans starting at $16 per month. It is a fine choice for a restaurant, salon or solo consultant. It has no equivalent of Webflow or Framer collections, no MCP connector and limited API depth. For any business whose site needs structured data, it is the wrong tool.
Lovable and Base44: When You Need an Application, Not a Website
A category that barely existed two years ago now solves the hardest version of the database question. Lovable generates React plus Supabase apps, while Base44, acquired by Wix in 2025, is a leaner all-in-one builder with authentication, database, hosting and integrations built in. Lovable includes a Claude MCP integration for building and managing apps from Claude or Claude Code, built-in Supabase database integration with authentication, Stripe payments and file storage, and one-click deployment with custom domains.
For a Florida business, this is the path for a customer portal, a booking system, an internal CRM or a quoting tool. The caveat: credit limits, limited backend control and scaling gaps make both harder to use for long-term, data-heavy apps. Treat them as a fast way to a working v1, with a developer review before real customer data goes in.

Seasonal traffic. Tourism, snowbird season and spring training create spikes that expose slow WordPress installs. Because Webflow pages are pre-rendered at the edge, there is no live database to crash during peak usage.

The honest verdict is that WordPress lost its default status this summer, not because it got worse but because the alternatives finally closed the two gaps that used to justify the plugin headache: structured data and extensibility. When Webflow’s CMS holds a million records and Claude can run a bulk update through MCP, “WordPress is more flexible” stops being true for most Florida businesses.
My recommendation by business type: a professional services firm or multi-location operator should go Webflow. A brand that lives on design should go Framer and let the agents do the maintenance. A business that has an agency should ask whether the agency is on Duda and, if so, stay put. A business that needs a real application should build it on Lovable or Base44 and keep the marketing site separate. Keep WordPress only if you have someone whose job is to update it within hours of a disclosure, because five hours is now the window.
